CO2 Refills in St. Petersburg: Who Needs Them and Where to Go
CO2 cylinders power a surprising range of equipment across the St. Petersburg and Tampa Bay area. Draft beer systems, restaurant carbonation equipment, welding rigs, aquariums, paintball gear, HVAC controls, and marine fire suppression systems all depend on CO2. When those cylinders run low or run out, most businesses need a local refill source — one they can reach quickly without waiting on delivery or managing a gas supplier’s exchange program.
Serviced Fire Equipment, located at 3200 62nd Ave N — our St. Petersburg fire extinguisher service facility — provides CO2 cylinder refills as part of our walk-in service. Our DOT authorization covers hydrostatic testing, inspection, and refilling of CO2 cylinders to current regulatory standards — not just a simple tank swap.

What We Check Before Refilling
We do not refill every cylinder that walks through the door. Before refilling any CO2 cylinder, we verify the hydrostatic test date stamped on the shoulder. DOT regulations require CO2 cylinders to pass hydrostatic testing every 5 years. A cylinder past its test date cannot legally receive a refill — regardless of how it looks externally.
If your cylinder is past its test date, we can perform the hydrostatic test here at our facility. Turnaround on most standard CO2 cylinders runs 1 to 3 business days. If you need CO2 immediately, we may have a tested loaner cylinder available while yours is in for testing — ask about this option when you arrive.
Common CO2 Cylinder Sizes We Service
We handle CO2 cylinders across a wide range of sizes. From small 5 lb cylinders used in paintball and portable applications up to 50 lb cylinders used in commercial beverage and restaurant operations, we service them all. Common sizes include 5 lb, 10 lb, 15 lb, 20 lb, 35 lb, and 50 lb cylinders. For unusual sizes or specialized applications, call ahead at (727) 620-3473 and we will confirm availability.
Getting Here From Around the Bay Area
Our facility sits at 3200 62nd Ave N, just off I-275 in St. Petersburg. Customers reach us easily from Clearwater, Largo, Seminole, St. Pete Beach, Gulfport, and South Tampa. Many of them find the drive faster than waiting on their regular gas supplier’s delivery schedule.
We are open Monday through Friday. No appointment is needed for cylinders with a current hydrostatic test date. Bring your cylinder in, we weigh it, verify the test date, refill it to the correct weight, and have you back on the road quickly.
CO2 Fire Extinguisher Recharging
CO2 fire extinguishers follow the same hydrostatic testing intervals and recharging protocols as other extinguisher types under NFPA 10. Any CO2 extinguisher that has been discharged — even partially — must go through professional recharging before returning to service. We recharge CO2 fire extinguishers in standard 5 lb, 10 lb, 15 lb, and 20 lb sizes as part of our walk-in fire extinguisher service.
