Ansul R-102 Fire Suppression Systems | Authorized Distributor in Florida

Ansul R-102 Fire Suppression Systems — Authorized Florida Distributor

Authorized R-102 Distributor — Factory-Trained — Full Parts Inventory — Wholesale Pricing

Factory-trained technicians. Full R-102 inventory in stock. Wholesale pricing for contractors. St. Petersburg, FL since 1999.

Serviced Fire Equipment is a factory-trained authorized distributor of Ansul R-102 fire suppression systems serving Florida and the Southeast since 1999. We stock the full R-102 product line at our St. Petersburg facility — complete systems, replacement components, ANSULEX agent, cartridges, fusible links, and discharge nozzles — and supply licensed fire protection contractors, kitchen equipment installers, and restaurant operators throughout the region.

Whether you're a fire protection contractor sourcing inventory for installations across Tampa Bay, a hood cleaner who needs a replacement fusible link before tomorrow's shift, or a restaurant owner trying to understand the system above your cooking line, this page covers what Ansul R-102 is, what we stock, and how to do business with us.

What is the Ansul R-102 System?

The Ansul R-102 is a pre-engineered, fixed-pipe, wet chemical fire suppression system designed specifically to protect commercial cooking equipment and the associated ventilation hood, plenum, and grease ducts. It is the most widely installed restaurant fire suppression system in North America.

R-102 systems are UL 300 listed and meet the requirements of NFPA 17A, the national standard for wet chemical extinguishing systems. They are accepted by every authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) in Florida, including local fire marshals across Pinellas, Hillsborough, Pasco, and Manatee counties.

When a fire develops on the cooking line, the R-102 detects the heat through a fusible-link-based detection system, automatically actuates within seconds, discharges ANSULEX Low-pH Liquid through fixed nozzles aimed at each appliance, and simultaneously shuts off the gas or electric supply via a mechanical interlock. The agent cools the burning grease and creates a soapy foam layer that smothers the fire and prevents re-ignition.

R-102 System Components

Every R-102 installation consists of the same core components, regardless of kitchen size. We stock all of them:

  • Agent tank: available in 1.5-gallon, 3.0-gallon, and 6.0-gallon capacities to match the kitchen's appliance protection load
  • Regulated release assembly: the mechanical heart of the system, mounted with the agent tank and triggered by the detection line
  • ANSULEX Low-pH Liquid agent: the proprietary wet chemical formulation engineered for the saponification reaction with hot cooking oils
  • Nitrogen cartridge: the expellant gas charge that pressurizes the system on actuation
  • Detection system: stainless steel detection cable with fusible links rated at 165°F, 212°F, 280°F, 360°F, or 500°F depending on placement
  • Discharge nozzles: appliance-specific nozzles (1N, 1H, 1W, 2W, 3N, 230, 245, 260, 290 series) aimed at fryers, ranges, char-broilers, griddles, woks, and duct openings
  • Schedule 40 black iron distribution piping
  • Manual pull station: the red handle at the kitchen exit
  • Mechanical gas valve: shuts off gas supply on actuation
  • Micro-switches: for fire alarm signaling and electrical interlock

Why Buy Ansul R-102 From an Authorized Distributor

Ansul R-102 systems and components are restricted distribution — they are not sold through retail channels, generic e-commerce, or unauthorized resellers. Buying from an authorized distributor matters for several reasons:

  • Warranty integrity: systems and components purchased through unauthorized channels are not covered under Ansul's manufacturer warranty
  • Code compliance: fire marshals will verify that installed components carry proper UL labeling and traceable serial numbers from authorized sources
  • Factory-current product: agent has a shelf life, cartridges have an expiration, and Ansul issues periodic product updates. Authorized distributors ship current product, not old stock
  • Technical support: we have direct factory technical support access for design questions, component compatibility, and field troubleshooting
  • Florida licensing: our state license number appears on every service tag and certification document we issue

Factory-Trained Expertise

Our technicians complete Ansul's factory training program and maintain current certification on the R-102 product line. That training covers system design, component identification, agent handling, cylinder service, and the detection and discharge testing protocols specified by Ansul and required by NFPA 17A.

Factory training is more than a credential — it's the only way to legitimately handle ANSULEX agent recharging, regulated release assembly service, and the proprietary components that distinguish R-102 from generic wet chemical systems. We've been Ansul-trained continuously since the system's introduction in our market, and we maintain training documentation available for any fire marshal or insurance audit that requests it.

  • Cartridge replacement and recertification
  • Technical consultation on system design, component selection, and code compliance

What We Don't Do: Mobile and On-Site Service

Serviced Fire Equipment focuses exclusively on wholesale distribution, in-shop cylinder service, and technical supply. We do not perform on-site installations, mobile inspections, or field service of installed R-102 systems. This is a deliberate scope of our business, defined by our distribution and partnership agreements within the fire protection industry.

This focus is what allows us to serve the broader Florida fire protection community without competing against the licensed contractors who buy from us. If you're a fire protection contractor, hood cleaner, kitchen installer, or related trade — we're set up to be your supply chain partner, not a competitor for end-user accounts.

If you're a restaurant owner needing on-site R-102 service, inspection, or installation, we're happy to refer you to a licensed Florida fire protection contractor in your area. Many of the contractors serving Pinellas, Hillsborough, and Pasco County restaurants buy their Ansul parts and agent directly from us.

Who Buys Ansul R-102 From Us

Our customer base falls into a few distinct categories:

  • Licensed fire protection contractors across Florida sourcing complete R-102 systems for new restaurant installations and replacement parts for ongoing service work
  • Kitchen equipment installers who include suppression system supply as part of new commercial kitchen builds
  • Hood cleaning companies who need replacement nozzle caps, fusible links, and detection components during cleaning service
  • Restaurant chains and multi-unit operators standardizing on Ansul systems across their locations and purchasing agent and parts in bulk
  • Specifying engineers and architects validating R-102 component specs for plan review submittals
  • Fire marshals and AHJs verifying authentic component sourcing during compliance audits

If you're in any of these categories — whether you've worked with us for years or you're sourcing R-102 components for the first time — we're set up to handle your account quickly and accurately.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I purchase a complete R-102 system directly for my restaurant?

Yes — we sell complete R-102 systems and components directly to restaurant operators. However, installation must be performed by a Florida-licensed fire protection contractor, and the system must be commissioned by a licensed technician before it can be put into service. We can refer you to a contractor in your area if you don't have one.

Do you ship Ansul R-102 components outside Florida?

Yes. We ship throughout the Southeast and to customers in other states where R-102 is the specified system. Shipping rates and lead times vary — contact us with your order and we'll provide pricing.

What's the shelf life of ANSULEX agent and nitrogen cartridges?

ANSULEX agent has a 6-year service life from the date of charging — agent older than 6 years must be replaced regardless of system condition. Nitrogen cartridges have a 6-year cycle as well and must be inspected and weighed at every semi-annual service to confirm full charge.

How quickly can you turn around an R-102 hydrostatic test?

Because we perform hydrostatic testing in-house at our St. Petersburg facility — rather than shipping cylinders out of state like most distributors — our typical turnaround is 3 to 5 business days. Contractors with multiple cylinders due for hydro can rotate them through our shop without leaving customer kitchens without protection.

Do you stock parts for older Ansul systems besides R-102?

R-102 is our primary stocked product, but we can source components for older Ansul systems still in service (R-101, predecessors). Contact us with your system model and we'll let you know lead time and availability.

Are you available for technical consultation on R-102 system design?

Yes. Our factory-trained technicians can review system layouts, validate component selection, confirm flow-point calculations, and answer code compliance questions. There's no charge for consultation that supports a parts order — and we're happy to be a sounding board for contractors working through a tricky installation.
